Whatnot Studio is a structured collaboration between SAIC's Designed Objects program and local/international corporate entities, especially product manufacturers, material manufacturers, and retail enterprises. This year-long course engages select mid- and upper-level undergraduate and graduate design students with the particular concerns and constraints or "real world" projects. 

Whatnot Studio considers the design problem as an opportunity for development. Hands-on collaboration with design industry professionals requires students to embrace the limitations of specific manufacturing methods and materials, identified commercial, and luxury fashion trends, narrow consumer profiles, client demographics, tight price points in production, and rigid brand identity. 

Whatnot Studio situates itself as a valuable partner with industry, one capable of contributing to the development of unique products, and widely varied commercial ventures, with the freshness and diversity of perspectives found in our enthusiastic, international student body.
